Dosage and Administration: NOROMECTIN Paste Oral Broad Spectrum Parasite Control for Horses is given orally at the recommended dose level of 200 µg ivermectin/kg liveweight. The contents of this syringe will treat one horse at 700 kg liveweight. Each weight marking on the syringe plunger will deliver 1.07 g of paste which is sufficient to treat 100 kg liveweight. Remove the plastic cap from the tip of the nozzle. Make sure the horse’s mouth does not contain feed. Insert the syringe into the side of the horse’s mouth in the gap between the front and back teeth. Advance the plunger as far as it will go, depositing the medication on the rear of the tongue. Immediately raise the horse’s head for a few seconds after dosing to ensure the full dose has been swallowed. MEAT WITHHOLDING PERIOD: DO NOT USE less than 21 days before slaughter for human consumption. DO NOT USE this preparation in any other animals intended for human consumption. NOTES TO USER: Some horses have experienced reactions with swelling and itching shortly after treatment. In most cases the horses have been diagnosed as carrying heavy infection of Onchocerca microfilariae, and it is assumed the reactions were the result of microfilariae dying in large numbers. Although the signs have resolved in a few days, symptomatic treatment may be advisable. Consult your veterinarian if these clinical signs persist. Resolution of summer sores involving extensive tissue changes may require other appropriate therapy in conjunction with treatment with NOROMECTIN Paste Oral Broad Spectrum Parasite Control for Horses. Reinfection, and measures for its prevention should also be considered. Consult your veterinarian if the condition does not improve. NOROMECTIN Paste Oral Broad Spectrum Parasite Control for Horses has been formulated for use in horses only. SUGGESTED PARASITE CONTROL PROGRAM All horses should be included in a regular parasite control program with particular attention paid to mares, foals and yearlings. Foals should be treated initially at 6 to 8 weeks of age, and routine treatment repeated as appropriate. NOROMECTIN Paste Oral Broad Spectrum Parasite Control for Horses is highly effective against gastrointestinal, cutaneous and pulmonary nematodes and bots of horses of all ages. Regular treatment will reduce the chances of verminous arteritis and colic caused by S. vulgaris. With its broad spectrum, NOROMECTIN Paste Oral Broad Spectrum Parasite Control for Horses is well suited to be the major product in a parasite control program. Consult your veterinarian for a control program to meet your specific needs.
